Peace of the World International Launches “Inspire Peace Initiative”
(25 November 2009 Detroit, MI) With war, violence, poverty, and disaster in the news daily, we seldom hear about the good that is being done in the world. Peace of the world International, a 23-year old NGO based in the U.S. with branches in 11 countries, is launching the “Inspire Peace Initiative.” The Initiative will focus on publicly recognizing, promoting, and awarding individuals whose good deeds often go unnoticed. The Initiative is designed to also locate programs and projects offered by organizations, businesses, and even governments that inspire peace around the world in all ways of life no matter how small.
We all know someone who goes over and beyond to help another person oftentimes someone that they may not even know. That person who takes a grouchy old man to dialysis, that young man who never misses an opportunity to be right there to stop arguments among his peers, that organization who is barely making ends meet that stretches itself and its volunteers to reach across the ocean to help an injured child, that minister who seems never to sleep but is always there for everyone in the neighborhood. These are the ones that Peace of the World International feels inspires us to do more. As such, these are the “Beacons of Peace” which is also the name of the award that will be given each year at an annual Inspire Peace Conference (being held 2010 in Kenya, East Africa). The first Inspire Peace Conference was held in Detroit, Michigan in July 2006.
Anyone having names of individuals, organizations, businesses, clubs, groups, or governments that are outstanding in their quiet way of going about the business of helping others and spreading peace should send detailed information about your nominee and your reason for selecting them to nominees@inspirepeace.net. Also visit the Inspire Peace Initiative website at http://www.inspirepeace.net for conference and general information.
